Gothenburg:GB team captain more
I’ve been involved in athletics for over 20 years, joining my local athletics club at
aged 7 and three quarters. As a school aged athlete I enjoyed early successes
winning the English Schools and AAA’s National titles at 800m.
In my junior years I moved to the 400m, again gaining national titles and in 2000,
in Santiago, Chile, as part of the 4x400m relay team was crowned “World Junior Champion”.
I’ve been a regular in the Great Britain and N.I Team since 2002. I reverted back to
the 800m in 2005 and in 2008 won the European Cup and was thrilled to be part of
Team GB at the Beijing Olympic Games.
In 2009 I won the bronze medal in the 800m at the World Championships in Berlin.
In 2010 I broke the British indoor 800m record on two occasions and won silver at
the World indoor Championships in Doha as Captain of the Great Britain team.
In the same year at the European Championships I won the bronze medal.
In 2011 I won gold and silver medals at the European indoor Championships for the
800m and the 4x400m relay and became the 800m National Outdoor Champion.
